Composed for the world famous Mivos Quartet for the 2024 Sounds of Now Vienna festival in Vienna Austria. An eight minute string quartet movement that depicts the last 3 days of my family and I’s time with my grandmother before her passing. An originally “tonally” beautiful piece is morphed and distorted by having the performers (using graphic notation) play out of sync with each other, and in different time signatures; creating harmonies that are both a beautiful celebration of life, and a somber reminder of death.
